Women in Government

In 2024, WiNE proudly supported WIG's initiative to champion women candidates in the upcoming Local Government Elections.

 

This campaign showcased 59 remarkable women across 12 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Northeast Victoria, who are dedicated to representing their communities and driving positive change. By publicising their efforts, we aim to amplify their voices and inspire future generations of women leaders.

Objectives:

1. Raise Awareness: Increase visibility and understanding of the importance of female representation in government at local, state, and federal levels.

2. Support Women Candidates: Continue to highlight and promote women candidates participating in various elections, encouraging community support.

3. Feature Insights on Women in Leadership: Create content reflecting how women in government navigate their roles, challenges faced, and strategies for success.

4. Broaden Horizons for Future Initiatives: Develop programs addressing the representation of women on boards, fostering a pipeline of female leadership

Our next priority in this realm will be the Women on Boards Awareness Campaign focusing on the importance of women’s representation on boards, encouraging discussions and participation from diverse communities. We are aiming to organise webinars and workshops that provide resources and guidance for women aspiring to secure board positions.
