About Me

Mandy Mccracken lost her hands with feet to sepsis when she was 39 years old. Since then Mandy has learnt how to walk with prosthetic legs and she uses robotic hands and pirate hooks. She’s even gone back to rock-climbing, driving, and is now a writer and disability advocate.

Mandy created the Quad Squad, the worlds first multiple limb amputee support group. She’s a regular volunteer at La Trobe University’s prosthetic department, teaching students how to build prosthetic limbs. And she has creating a new charity called Get Started Disability Support Australia, helping everyone who’s new to disability.

Mandy loves telling the honesty behind living without your hands and feet. She recently created an ABC podcast called "Look Mum No Hand" and is a regular face in the Australian media.
